Professor John Evans September Symposium and Retirement Dinner Seminar
Event details
A celebration of John Evans' scientific career
Professor John Evans will officially be retiring on the 1st of October this year.
Although he will come back part-time, at both the University of Southampton as well as the Diamond Light Source to hopefully do new and exciting science, we want to mark this special occasion and have organised a conference in his honour.
On Thursday the 16th of September and Friday the 17th of September we want to celebrate John Evans impressive scientific career, as inorganic chemist, organometallic chemist, catalysis researcher, and spectroscopist, with a selection of invited speakers who have been part of John's research at different stages in his career. The lectures will present current state-of-the art research.
The invited speakers include: Prof. Avelino Corma (Valencia), Prof. Brian Johnson (Cambridge), Prof. Andy Dent (Diamond Light Source), Prof. Fred Mosselmans (Diamond Light Source), Prof. Bill Levason (Southampton), Prof. Jack Norton (Columbia, New York), Prof. Paul Raithby (Bath) and Prof. Moniek Tromp (Southampton).
The conference will start with registration in the foyer of Chemistry building 29 from 12 noon on the 16th, with the program starting at 1pm and will end with a lunch (1pm) on the 17th. The scientific program will take place in the main lecture theatre of chemistry (29:1101), at the Highfield campus of the University of Southampton. On the evening of the 16th you are invited for a gala dinner in the De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel (Mayflower Suite) in the city centre of Southampton.
