Event details
Prof Dieter Lentz presents a seminar as part of the Molecular Assembly, Function and Structure Groups seminar series.
Substitution of hydrogen by fluorine has a large influence on the properties of organic and organometallic compounds and materials. Fluorine substitution affects the supramolecular chemistry, redox potentials, crystal packing and charge carrier mobility of the buckybowls corannulene and sumanene.
Chiral hydrido zirconium complexes allow the enantioselective hydrodefluorination of trifluoro allene to 1,3-difluoro allene one of the smallest chiral molecules. Catalytic hydrodefluorinatiom with titanium catalysts turned out as valuable synthetic tool. Reaction of cobaltocen with fluoro alkenes provides an easy access to cyclcopentadienes with fluorinated substituents.
