Chinese Calligraphy Caught the Eyes – the Confucius Institute at Southampton University promoted the British primary school community day
On 9th June 2017, the Confucius Institute at the University of Southampton was invited to attend the Banister School Community Day. Chinese calligraphy was the highlight of the day, which attracted nearly 200 schoolteachers, students and their parents to participate in the workshops.
Teachers from the Confucius Institute introduced the four Chinese study room treasures and the correct way of holding a brush pen followed by a demonstration of writing Chinese characters. All the participants were amazed and eager to try, even the ‘shy’ students. A seven-year-old girl student discussed the possibility of learning Chinese in the future after experienced writing all the vocabulary cards.
This is the third time for the Confucius Institute being invited to the Banister School Community Day.
