Tangram and Shuttlecock – Graduates from the Confucius Classroom at Mansbridge Primary School Experienced Chinese Culture

On 16th May 2017, the Confucius Institute in Southampton organized a Chinese cultural workshop for the graduates from the Confucius Classroom at Mansbridge Primary School. This was the first time for such took place at the school.  Ma Cuihua, the Chinese teacher, conducted the workshop in two parts - Tangram and Shuttlecock.

Following the introduction of the background knowledge of these two Chinese ancient devices, everyone had hands on to the Tangram, which was evented in Tang Dynasty in China and joined a competition in kicking the Shuttlecock, which was a sport started from Han Dynasty in China.

The event was not only for the graduates to participate more and feel more about the Chinese culture, but also stimulated and kept the students’ interest and enthusiasm in learning the Chinese language and culture.
