CI First Teachers Professional Training Session Held

The first teachers professional learning was held online on 17th January 2022, by the Confucius Institute (CI) at the University of Southampton. Dr Ruoling Zheng, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, hosted this session and Ying Fu, the core teacher of CI, gave a lecture. Four relevant staff joined this meeting.

In view of the fact that new teachers may not be familiar with English education rules and customs, Ms Fu gave a speech titled ‘Do as romans do’. This lecture was divided into two main parts. In the first part, Ms Fu briefly introduced the dress principles, professional attitude, working hours and communication principles that should be paid attention to. The second part of the training focused on the introduction of Safeguarding in English schools to help new teachers clarify the boundaries of teaching behaviour.

This training session provided new teachers with the English education rules and customs they should know and let them learn more about how to deal with various teaching situations flexibly. Dr Ruoling Zheng summarised that new teachers should learn more, think more and communicate more – only in this way can they do better in their work.
