Take part in COVID-19 testing

Test twice a week to help stay safe this winter

We are pleased to be able to offer twice weekly saliva testing for all our students and staff this winter.

All students are expected to test regularly before accessing our campuses and facilities. Staff who are regularly attending campus are also expected to test. The saliva test is simple to take, doesn’t involve a swab and gives accurate results by text message and email within 24-48 hours.

Register for testing

All students, including those who were registered for saliva testing in the 2020/21 academic year, need to re-register for the Programme.  This is a two-step process. Please ensure you complete both steps.

Staff who have already taken part in the Programme do not need to re-register.

Knowing if you have COVID-19 is vital to stopping its spread, and regular testing of people without symptoms of COVID-19 can identify those who may be spreading the virus without realising.

Our Saliva Testing Programme offers you the chance to find out whether you have the virus by collecting your saliva in a small sample pot that is then sent to a local testing facility.

You’ll receive a positive or negative result by text message and email within 24-48 hours and those who do test positive will be provided with the support they need.

Taking part in our Saliva Testing Programme will help to keep our campus safe and contribute to a positive experience for those who study and work at the University.

You can find out more about the Saliva Testing Programme on our SharePoint site.

If you are already registered for the Programme and need a new set of labels, please contact the Programme helpdesk.

Rapid Lateral Flow Tests

These tests involve taking a sample from your throat and/or nose, using a swab.

Although the saliva test is more accurate and able to detect the virus earlier than a rapid lateral flow test, a lateral flow device can provide results in 15 to 30 minutes and may be used in combination with the Saliva Testing Programme, for example, before attending an event, club or society.
