Research project: The Impact of Transition on Gender Differences in Subjective Wellbeing in Post-Communist Countries

Currently Active:
Yes

The aim of this project is to prepare a grant proposal for the wider topic of gender differences in subjective wellbeing at a time of economic and financial crisis.

A team from the University of Southampton and the Academy of Sciences in the Czech Republic are developing an innovative, multi-method research design and proposal, which overcomes the current gap between sociological and economic literature, on the ongoing and controversial debate on whether women are losers or equally affected by economic and financial crisis as men. They will review both literature strands, using subjective wellbeing measures recognised by both disciplines and employing quantitative as well as qualitative analysis.

The writing of the grant proposal is funded by the British Academy.
