Language and Culture Event

 

Funded by the Doctoral College Activities Fund, this series has a range of activities for you to attend, including talks from distinctive scholars in the field of Modern Languages and Linguistics, and interactive exhibitions. From drawing your own language portrait, to challenging your views of language and culture, there is something for everyone, including participation prizes.

Who: Open to all, no need to book, simply drop in!

Guest Speakers

Lectures delivered by leading scholars in the field provide a stimulating platform for you to understand why we need to investigate this area in the current globalised world. The talks aim to show how this cutting-edge research can inform your own practices in linguistic and culturally diverse academic and educational settings.

Professor Adrian Holliday, Canterbury Christ Church University.

Who: Open to all 

Adrian Holliday is Professor of Applied Linguistics & Intercultural Education in the Faculty of Education of the Canterbury Christ Church University, where he is programme director for the PhD in Education. Professor Holliday is an internationally renowned expert on critical studies in the sociology and cultural politics of English language education and intercultural communication.
