Contract and Collaborative Research

Our academics can use their research expertise to help your organisation to solve problems or develop new ways of doing things.  We aim to work in areas where we can achieve real impact. 

You can work with us in different ways. You can:

• contract us to carry out research for you if you have a specific goal for your organisation and provide the funds
• collaborate with us on a problem your industry faces, pooling our knowledge and potentially resources
• access our academic expertise with funding to help businesses develop ideas through a knowledge transfer partnership
• sponsor a postgraduate researcher with access to our facilities and academic support to work on longer term research

How our education experts work with organisations to make an impact

Our School of Education experts work with businesses, charities, museums and schools to improve teaching and learning.

Our education experts’ work includes:

• producing online interactive maths workbooks to pilot in schools and colleges and working to bring these to underserved communities worldwide
• discovering neurodiverse graduates’ experiences of starting work, with the Association for Graduate Careers Services and Lancaster University and Research England funding
• supporting primary schools in disadvantaged areas to improve the health of wildlife around them and establishing a schools environmental education network
• developing a curriculum unit on the history of the Titanic and Southampton with the SeaCity Museum and history and science teachers
• promoting belonging at school and social inclusion in Mexico by generating ideas in a workshop with technical high school teachers from across the nation
• designing escape room games to engage people with nature with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, University natural scientists and young people
• strengthening science education through the European ‘COSMOS’ project and developing a toolkit to capture the impact of museum science learning with the Winchester Science Centre
