One Day CPD event at the Mary Rose Museum, Portsmouth

For primary teachers, senior management and science subject leaders. 

  • Keynote by Prof Janice Griffiths, Chair Elect, The Association for Science Education: What is science capital and how can it support children's learning in and out of school?
  • 2 for the price of 1: Enquiry skills in History, Science and beyond
  •  Hands-on science with Practical Action, the Mathematics and Science Learning Centre and the Mary Rose Museum

A CPD event hosted by the Mary Rose Learning Team, in partnership with the Mathematics and Science Learning Centre, University of Southampton. A chance to gain new ideas and explore best practice in science teaching and learning.

Practical workshops led by:

Dr Debs Wilkinson, Senior Lecturer in Primary Science, University of Chichester and the Mary Rose Team - combining History and Science enquiry, as featured in Primary Science magazine (April 2018).

Jeremy Thomas, Abingdon Science Partnership Coordinator - showcasing how the Crest Award and Practical Action activities can enrich science teaching and learning in schools.

Colin Stevens, Centre Manager at Mathematics and Science Learning Centre— sharing practical STEM ideas to use in the primary classroom.

  • Find out about current thinking and good practice in primary science
  • Network with fellow teachers and academics
  • Identify areas for development of cross-curricular learning
  • Plan for action to bring science centre stage in your school

Fees and booking

£80 + VAT - includes light lunch, resource pack and museum entry. £140 for two people from the same organisation
A limited number of subsidised places available for student teachers, £25 + VAT
