Event details
In this talk, I will look at the interplay between research and policy, as it plays out at Ofsted. I will provide the development of the new Education Inspection Framework as an example. I will discuss the key differences between academic and policy research and will discuss ways in which academic research can and cannot impact policy.
What are the key messages of your talk? There is a growing desire to ensure that policy is evidence-informed, which is an opportunity for academic researchers to engage with policymakers. To do this requires an understanding of the policy-context, however.
What are the implications for practice or research from your talk? This talk will provide insights into how evidence-informed policy can be constructed, and on how academic research can influence policymakers and civil servants.
