Education Seminar
What is your talk about? The voices of young autistic children are rarely accessed or heard, often because their voices are considered especially 'hard to reach'. I'll talk about the process and findings of a project that aimed to challenge this position, which was co-constructed with early years' practitioners and families using an innovative Digital Storytelling methodology.
What are the key messages of your talk? It is possible to capture the views and perspectives of young autistic children in meaningful ways, and to reframe thinking about young autistic children as 'knowers' in their own lives. The project is already making an impact in practice.
What are the implications for practice or research from your talk? Co-constructing research with practice from the start builds a strong pathway to impact.
