Assessment Centre

If you have a disability, mental health problem or specific learning difficulty which affects your ability to study, you may be entitled to extra support at university. The Wessex Needs Assessment Centre (WNAC) at the University of Southampton and our five regional outreach centres provides advice on applying for Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA), and can assess what support you may need.

The Wessex Needs Assessment Centre is a long-established professional needs assessment centre at Highfield campus, accredited by the Disabled Students’ Allowances Quality Assurance Group (DSA-QAG). We can assess on behalf of all funding bodies and institutions, including Student Finance England, the NHS and Research Councils.

WNAC's services are available to all students, not just students at the University of Southampton.

Students requiring a needs assessment are free to attend the assessment centre of their choice. We can assess any student who meets the eligibility criteria for Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA) either before a course starts or during the course.
