Centre for Environmental Sciences summer photography competition winners
Congratulations to the winners of the 2015 Centre for Environmental Sciences (CES) summer photography competition.
There were over 30 entries for the competition, across three categories: People, Planet and Prosperity. The photographs were diverse, capturing imagination and showcasing the talents from CES.
The winners were:
People: Flora Level, 'Bridge over troubled water'
The judges commented on how the picture is intriguing and captures the imagination.
Planet: Anabel Solnik, 'Clear Silence'
The judges particularly liked the mysterious, moody shot and the story the picture tells.
Prosperity: Sophie Hocart, 'Shire fishermen'
The judges liked the composition of the picture and it's strong naturalistic background.
The shortlist was drawn up by Andrew Fleming (commercial and wedding photographer) and Oli Crump, president of the Students' Union Photography Society. The winning pictures were selected by vote in awards session. The winners were each awarded a £50 book voucher. The successful competition will run again next summer for students and staff who want to get involved. Visit Engineering and the Environment on Facebook to find the shortlisted entries.
