Engineering and the Environment seminar
The issue of noise in motorcycling is one which has received some attention over about thirty years, mainly with regard to hearing loss in professional riders such as police officers. Over a number of years a group of us have studied the mechanisms of noise generation by motorcycle helmets, examining the interaction of aerodynamics and structural elements, and their effects on hearing, threshold shift, and cognition.
