Simon Brook is a Principal Teaching Fellow in Health Sciences and is the lead for the Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Practitioner Pathways within the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice Programme. The pathways play a key educational role in NHS professional workforce design. Simon leads a module on Diagnostic assessment and Decision Making within the pathway. He currently works clinically in a local Walk in Centre and has presented at international forums on these subjects.

One of the rewards of working with trainee Advanced Practitioners is seeing their personal and professional transformation during their programmes. Not only do they transform clinically in terms of their critical thinking and reasoning but they become innovators, leaders and trailblazers who are not afraid to challenge the status quo.

Started work in the NHS in 1977. Extensive experience in urgent and emergency care. Until 2014 was Consultant Nurse in Urgent Care, working clinically in the Walk in Centres. Focused on the transformation process in developing Advanced Practitioners. Strong advocate for the role of the clinical practitioner and the synergy between practice, education and research.

Pathway Leader: Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Advanced

Practitioner. Module lead HLTH 6074 Diagnostic Assessment and Decision Making
