The Centre for Music Education and Social Justice respond to the Misogyny in Music Report

Published: 13 February 2024

In response to the Misogyny in Music Report by the House of Commons Women and Equalities Committee, the Centre for Music Education and Social Justice (CMESJ) has released the following statement:

‘We at the Southampton CMESJ welcome the UK Parliament’s Misogyny in Music Report and stand in solidarity with victims of harassment and discrimination. This report highlights systemic issues of gender discrimination in the music industry, and related intersectional oppressions. We encourage more spaces to be created for cis and trans women’s voices to be heard. We support the Report’s recommendations and are actively working within our own institutional ecosystem to develop strategies to make our learning environments more equitable.’
