The Music Department continues its new partnership with Turner Sims offering pre-show support acts in the foyer bar before some of this season’s jazz gigs. This week’s free event presents the Apex Quartet performing ahead of the Andy Sheppard Quartet at 8pm in the main auditorium.
Apex Quartet originally met in Chichester and now perform across the South Coast. The group features Saxophonist Andy Blee who is currently studying at the University’s Music Department. The band is influenced by a wide range of musical backgrounds and styles, from classic standards to boundary-pushing and genre-eluding contemporary music by groups such as Snarky Puppy, Troy Roberts and Mark Guiliana. Tonight’s gig will feature new tunes, a revisiting of old standards, as well their own material.
