I have previously studied archaeology and history at both the University of Southampton (Undergraduate Degree and Postgraduate Diploma) and Exeter University (Masters Degree)."

Jelma van Amersfoort is a PhD candidate in Music at the University if Southampton. The subject of her thesis is ‘Guitars, music and Culture in the Northern Netherlands between 1750 and 1810. Het supervisors are professor Jeanice Brooks and Elizabeth Kenny. Jelma has published on the guitar and it’s culture in the 19th and 19th centuries in several scholarly journals. Her further research interests include music by women composers, and classical song. She is very active as a performer on historic guitars, and performs regularly in the Netherlands, England, and France.

"I have a PhD in Digital Media and Communications from the University of Southampton. My thesis, entitled Online Distribution and the Relocation of Specialised Film, explores the landscape of on-demand culture and video-on-demand technology through a lens of historical study. Before my PhD, I attained a first-class degree in Film Studies at the University of Southampton before completing an MA in Film and Cultural Management, again at the University of Southampton. In the past, I have taught on a range of film-related modules and I am currently working as an Independent Learning Facilitator for the Pre-sessional programme here at Southampton."

"I’m on the third year of my PhD at University of Southampton with the department for Archaeology. I have completed my BA and MA in archaeology at Aarhus University in Denmark, where I am from. After my MA, I worked in commercial archaeology for almost 6 years in Denmark, Qatar, Kuwait and Britain. In 2014, I was awarded with a PhD scholarship by South, West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership. My research project is about characterising activities at early Neolithic Monuments with the method of so-called use-wear analysis. This method can potentially answer questions about the function of prehistoric flint artefacts.

My main areas of interest are Mesolithic and Neolithic Europe, stone tool analysis, and experimental archaeology."

Sarah Smyth is a PhD student in Film at the University of Southampton. Her thesis is part of a larger project called ‘Calling the Shots: Women and Contemporary UK Film Culture’. Sarah’s main interest are all aspects of women’s filmmaking, but particularly women’s filmmaking in Britain. She is also interested in how women are represented on-screen in cinema and wider media culture.
