I graduated from Southampton with a law degree in 2004 but wanted to further my knowledge of the technical and legal aspects of computer science and communications. The LLM (IT and Telecoms Law) by distance learning was a great choice, enabling me to fit in studying alongside my busy life and my job as a senior communications lawyer for Vodafone.

The freedom and flexibility of the programme meant that I was able to study in airports and hotel rooms, wherever I have been working. I downloaded the reading material and podcasts and used the online discussions and blogs to keep in touch with staff and fellow students all around the world — from Switzerland to Tanzania.

I was attracted back to Southampton for a number of reasons. The Law School has a sound international reputation. I thoroughly enjoyed studying here as an undergraduate and had first-hand experience of the quality of the tutors and the credibility and standing of the Institute for Law and the Web (ILAWS).

I enjoyed my LLM studies at Southampton so much that I am continuing my research on the regulation of online communications services such as Skype with a part-time Ph.D with ILAWS.
