It is a great privilege to work with our generous body donors. Every day I am reminded and respectful of the altruistic gift they have given to support the education of future medical professionals studying at the University of Southampton.
Ellen joined the Centre for Learning Anatomical Sciences technical team in October 2016 as a laboratory technician. This was followed by a period of acting up at a higher level, before achieving the position of Deputy Anatomical Sciences Laboratory Manager in May 2019.
Previous to these roles in CLAS, Ellen worked in clinical trials at University Hospital Southampton in the trauma and orthopaedics team covering a wide range of clinical research including surgical and medical.
Ellen also has extensive experience working in the funeral industry, with particular interest in preparing, presenting and preserving the deceased and bereavement support for families.
This professional background coupled with a genuine interest in anatomy has enabled Ellen to become a proficient anatomical dissector and manager of the dissection programme.
Ellen’s role as Deputy Anatomical Sciences Laboratory Manager includes overseeing of the operational activities of the laboratory, management and undertaking of the dissection programme and creation of anatomical diagrams.
