Chief Executive Officer of the University of Southampton Malaysia
Professor Ehsan Mesbahi is an accomplished academic leader with more than 30 years of experience in higher education across four continents.
While serving as Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Glasgow Caledonian University in his most recent role, he shaped the future of higher education through digital transformation, widening participation, and international collaboration.
A key highlight of his career was his tenure as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Dean at Newcastle University International Singapore (NUIS). As the founding leader, he played a pivotal role in establishing and expanding the university’s presence in Southeast Asia.
Beyond Singapore, Professor Mesbahi has held senior and executive leadership roles in the UK and New Zealand, leading large-scale academic transformation projects.
Professor Mesbahi said: “I believe passionately in the power of a global education. Universities have a vital role to play in finding answers to the world’s most challenging questions and I am confident that our students, teachers and researchers have the potential to help build a better world."
