What are your major responsibilities or duties in your current job?

I am currently in charge on both the management data and the analysis side of a project that will impact a major component of the nuclear reactor.

What is the best part of your job?

The best part is knowing that my work will directly impact the energy industry that aims to harness a new renewable source from nuclear fusion, which then will change or save the Earth!

Why did you choose the University of Southampton Malaysia?

I chose the Malaysia Campus as the university gave students the opportunity of completing a twin programme where we get to study in the UK for the last 2 years of our course. With a prestigious UK education, followed by a fraction of the cost and located near home, University of Southampton Malaysia was a firm choice for me.

The academics in the university are the best things for me. Lecturers are very approachable! The student community is great too. There are tons of clubs and society to suit everyone.

I enjoyed the hands on part of a project the most. It gives the ultimate satisfaction when you finish a project.

How did the University help prepare you for employment?

University provided career fairs for students of different discipline, where they invite companies to advertise their vacancies. Additionally, I have benefited a lot from the careers service where they offered professional help including checking your cv and prepping for interviews.

What advice would you give to current students to help them secure their first job?

Throughout University, it is beneficial to get some work experience like internship or even a part time job during the summer holidays. It is also best to prepare your application early on as the deadlines are sooner than you think! Also make full use of the career service provided by the University.
