A degree from UoS is very prestigious and carries a lot of value, hence you should always remember that it is a benefit for the employer if you are a part of their team.

How did you obtain your current job?

I completed a job application and was successful in obtaining my current job.

What are your major responsibilities/duties in your current role?

My main duties are overlooking group-wide sustainability initiatives through resource optimization and the use of renewable energy. Furthermore, part of the team’s role is to execute the group’s pledge of achieving carbon neutral status across all operations by 2023.

What is the best part of your job?

It is the team and management I work with.

Why did you choose the University of Southampton Malaysia (UoSM)?

I chose to study at UoSM as it was closer to home and easy to adapt, especially during the initial stages of starting University.

What were the best things about studying at the University of Southampton Malaysia Campus and UK Campus?

The best things about UoSM were my colleagues, the support staff and the cuisine.
The best things about studying in the UK Campus was the prestige, support staff and facilities.

What did you most enjoy about your degree programme?

The thing I enjoyed most was meeting and interacting with students from various nationalities and working with different perspectives and ideas.

How did the University help prepare you for employment?

The University of Southampton (UoS) gave me the necessary foundation to build upon when it came to the subject matter, working to deadlines and selling an idea/concept to a subject expert. Furthermore, through the various activities carried out at University, UoS geared me to make sound decisions during a critical/foreign situation.

What advice would you give to current students to help them secure their first job?

Make sure you wait for the correct job. Do not confirm a job placement for the sake of securing a job (especially if it isn’t related to your field). A degree from UoS is very prestigious and carries a lot of value, hence you should always remember that it is a benefit for the employer if you are a part of their team.
