Statement from the University of Southampton

We wish to make it clear that the widely reported reduction in NERC staff at the National Oceanography Centre will not affect the future delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees taught at the National Oceanography Centre Southampton. The University of Southampton's academic staff numbers in Ocean and Earth Science are planned to increase over the next 2 years,  with associated expansion of degree opportunities for both undergraduate and postgraduate students in marine and earth science.
