Philosophy appoints a new lecturer

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Kurt Sylvan to a two-year lectureship. Kurt recently completed his PhD at Rutgers University, where he studied with Professor Ernest Sosa.

Kurt specialises in epistemology and ethics, with additional interests in metaphysics, philosophy of mind, and aesthetics. He has work forthcoming in Episteme, Thought, and The Oxford Handbook of Reasons and Rationality.

Kurt's post is in association with the Southampton-based research project, Normativity: Epistemic and Practical, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. Kurt will draw upon his expertise in contributing to this project and its activities.
