Chris Janaway plays Nietzsche in ''balloon debate'' at Oxford

Published: 27 October 2015

On November 4th from 6:30pm to 8:00pm in Oxford, Chris Janaway will be participating in the "balloon debate" at Blackwell's Philosophy Festival. At this event, six professors will each take on the persona of a famous historical philosopher with the aim of explaining why they should not be thrown out of a hot-air balloon which is rapidly falling to Earth and needs to lose some excess weight. Chris will be playing the part of Nietzsche, alongside Kathryn Sutherland as Adam Smith, Roger Crisp as Aristotle, Henry Merivale as Hume, Andrew Bowie as Heidegger, and Christopher Taylor as Socrates. 100 people so far are registered for the event, which will likely be the most popular of all the events at the Philosophy Festival. Information about the event can be found here: http://bookshop.blackwell.co.uk/stores/oxford-bookshop/events/#philosophyfestival
