SMMI hosted visitors from Flinders University in Australia to discuss collaboration in the field of marine autonomy. Introductions were made by the UK Defence Solutions Centre (UKDSC), of which the University of Southampton is an associate member. Tony Kyriacou, Defence Partnership Director and Professor Karl Sammut, Director of the Centre for Maritime Engineering met members of the Marine Robotics Laboratory (MRL) to discuss areas of mutual interest in marine autonomy, control and imaging and tour the MRL and towing tank facilities. This was the first step in establishing a relationship between Flinders and University of Southampton researchers working in marine autonomy and the wider SMMI community.
