From 18-20 April, the SMMI and our team of ocean technology experts joined the crowds of over 5,000 people at the NOC dockside for what was the largest Ocean Business exhibition on record.

Over these three days, we got to meet many top players in ocean science and technology, and engage with people from across industries, showcasing the research of the University of Southampton and the role the SMMI plays in coordinating networks and connecting people to projects and plans.

Among those we met was Rodolfo Barradas – Senior Policy Advisor, Department for Transport (DfT) – who was visiting the University of Southampton as part of the Royal Society Pairing Scheme, hosted by Dr Benjamin Cerfontaine. We had a fruitful discussion and look forward to furthering the links established with the civil service. Read more about Benjamin and Rodolfo’s experience taking part in the Royal Society Pairing Scheme 2023.

A massive thank you to the academics who joined us at our stand: Adam Sobey, Adrian Bodenman, Blair Thornton, Dominic Hudson, Mark Moore, Nick Townsend, Patrick Beullens, Sam Simmons, Stephen Turnock, Tahsin Tezdogan, Tom Carnay, Wassim Dbouk, Melike Kurt, and those that came by to visit.
