Further success in ASA student paper competition

Solange Correa, a PhD graduate in Social Statistics, has won an award in the 2009 Student Paper Competition.

Solange Correa won an award in the 2009 Student Paper Competition promoted by the Social Statistics, Government Statistics, and Survey Research Methods Sections of the American Statistical Association.

Solange, who was supervised by Professors Chris Skinner and Danny Pfeffermann, presented her paper at the Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) in Washington, DC on August 2-6, 2009. Her paper was entitled "Extended Bootstrap Bias Corrections with Application to Multilevel Modelling of Sample Survey Data under Informative Sampling".

Solange continues the strong tradition of winning these awards which former Southampton students have established, including Gabrielle Durrant, Marcel Vieira, Hukum Chandra.
