ESRC Research funding success

Published: 7 November 2009Origin: Economics

Dr Mirco Tonin and Dr Michael Vlassopoulos, both members of the economics division, have been awarded a grant of £300,000 for a two year research programme on the sources and implications of pro-social behaviour funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) through its First Grants Competition.

The research programme entitled “An investigation into the sources and implications of pro-social behaviour” seeks to contribute to a better understanding of workers’ pro-social motivation using experimental methods. The research will inform the design of recruitment and retention policies and of incentive schemes in organisations involved in the production or delivery of goods and services that by their nature may elicit pro-social motivation among workers, such as health care, education and the third sector.

The research award illustrates the continued success of the division of Economics in securing prestigious ESRC funding. To find out more about the funding please visit the ESRC.
