Monograph examining post-Soviet Russia youth transition published.
Dr Charles Walker's recently published research monograph, "Learning to Labour in Post-Soviet Russia: Vocational Youth in Transition (published by Routledge)."
The publication examines the changing nature of transitions to adulthood amongst working-class youth in post-Soviet Russia. Based on extensive ethnographic research in a provincial Russian region, it looks at vocational education graduates whose colleges continue to channel them into the ailing industrial and agricultural sectors and how they challenge this.

Dr Charlie Walker is Associate Professor in Sociology within Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology at the University of Southampton.
Charlie’s primary research interests concern the impact of postsocialist transformation in Russia and the former Soviet Union on identities and inequalities rooted in social class and gender, and are located within the sociologies of class, gender, youth, work and education.
