Professor of Economics Jackline Wahba has been appointed as a Non-Executive Board Member of the Home Office’s Migration Advisory Committee (MAC).

Chaired by Professor David Metcalf CBE, the MAC advises the government on migration issues.
“This is a fantastic achievement and we would like to offer our sincere congratulations to Jackie,” says Professor Jane Falkingham, Head of Social Sciences and Director of the ESRC Centre for Population Change (CPC). She continues, “I am sure she will enjoy her time serving on the Committee, and we look forward to supporting her contribution to its vital work.”

Professor Wahba joins Dr Martin Ruhs, Senior Economist and Director of the Migration Observatory at the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS) at Oxford University; Professor Jonathan Wadsworth, Economics Department at Royal Holloway College, University of London; and Dr Jennifer Smith, Economics Department at the University of Warwick. In addition, the Commission for Employment and Skills and the UK Border Agency are represented on the committee.

The MAC is a non-statutory, non-time-limited, non-departmental public body, sponsored by the UK Border Agency of the Home Office.
