The programme is comprised of two types of pathways:

All pathways give access to selections from the University’s interdisciplinary modules, itself a part of a project to allow students greater flexibility in their learning.

As a Study Abroad student your fees will depend on your length of study, your area of study and if you are an international or EU student.

Applying from the USA?

As a Generation Study Abroad Commitment Partner, we are offering generous scholarships for students applying from the USA. These are tuition fee discounts of £3,000 for those applying for a full year and £1,000 for those applying for a single semester (1/2 year).

How to apply

Themed (interdisciplinary) pathways

All pathways can be followed for one semester or two semesters. Select a pathway to discover the modules, entry requirements and how to apply.

Economy and Society

Modules cover a diverse range of interesting and important topics including development economics, social class, the welfare state, the environment, migration, gender and society and many more.

Social and Human Sciences

This pathway offers opportunity for study of major global challenges such as climate change, population and health and economic development from a variety of different disciplinary perspectives.

Protecting the global environment

This pathway addresses critical global challenges required to protect our world, including climate change, environmental management, risk and uncertainty, global health, and many more.

Population and Health

Offers an excellent opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of the principles and dimensions of population and health with a focus on demographic, social and spatial aspects of health.

Disciplinary pathways

Select a discipline below to discover the pathways available, which can all be followed for one or two semesters.

Economics

Economics has a thriving community, attracting a wide range of students from very different backgrounds. The three pathways include Economics, Economics & Finance and Econometrics & Finance.

Sociology

Our three Sociology pathways include International Sociology, International Social Policy and Criminology.

Geography

Geography is an exciting discipline that engages with many contemporary concerns. This pathway allows you to choose from BA and BSc modules, delivered by recognised experts.

Politics and International Relations

This pathway enables you to explore a range of topics in politics and international relations, and you can tailor your pathway depending on your existing level of experience in this subject area.

Progression to masters

Students who successfully complete two semesters on a Studyabroad@Southampton pathway and meet the following criteria will be eligible for admission to the Linked MSc programmes specified for that pathway:

Students who complete a single semester of study or wish to apply for a Master’s programme not specified on their pathway will be subject to the standard admissions requirements for that programme.

Get a discount on a masters degree with us

Students who complete one or two semesters with us will be eligible for a 10% discount on masters study at Southampton
