After completing Post-Graduate studies in Cyprus she returned to England where her work has been influenced by concepts in science and colour. A Leverhulme Trust Artist in Residence Award in 2001 initiated Seran's involvement with the University of Southampton and biomedical imaging methods and led to an interest in using confocal microscopy to visualise tiny, "forensic" fragments of people's treasured possessions and of artifacts from museum collections, revealing the additional information that they have accumulated through history and linking these to the memories they evoke to develop images, artworks, light sculptures, installations and projections. Amongst her recent commissions has been "Treasure Island", an Arts Council- and SEEDA-funded project involving the collection, recording and analysis of over 200 artifacts from Portsmouth's community groups and heritage sites.
