If you want to continue to improve your English during your time in Southampton, we offer the following possibilities, all of which are free of charge to students at the University of Southampton.

Two short intensive writing courses will be run in June:  Classed will start Monday 10 June and end on Friday 14 June 2013.

How to enrol:

To enrol for English language courses, you must enrol online.

In order to enrol, you will need your ISS number (student number). Please also consult the timetable for your academic course. You can attend a maximum of 2 classes. Please do not register for more! If you are unable to register, the course is full.

If you are newly arrived at the University of Southampton and would like to receive some general orientation to academic study while learning at the same time, you can find a very useful website (created by a team in the Centre for Language Study) with interactive learning resources and answers to many of your questions about academic study at: www.prepareforsuccess.org.uk

Individual Tutorial Help

We offer tutorial help during the week (Mon-Thurs), and this can be done face-to-face with a tutor. For more information, please go to the Language Advisory Service.

Self-Access Language Study

We have a wide selection of language learning materials and multi-media resources to help you with your English. These are located in the Language Resources Centre at Hartley Library (near the Reception Desk) and at Avenue Campus, Room 2155.

You can book a 20-minute session with a language advisor on the manual sign-up sheet outside the Language Resources Centre.  If you have problems doing this, please contact the Language Advising Service staff at: advising@soton.ac.uk
