Interdisciplinary research

We have seven Interdisciplinary University Strategic Research Groups (USRGs) and four Institutes at the University of Southampton which are working on finding insights and solutions to major issues affecting society.

Working together across disciplines

It is clear that if we want to solve the big issues affecting society that researchers from all disciplines need to work together. This is why at the University of Southampton we have a number of strategic interdisciplinary research groups working together on major problems affecting the UK and the world.

We actively encourage all of our researchers and students to stretch their boundaries and to collaborate with people from other disciplines to help bring broader perspectives and different ideas to problems of all kinds.
