HipOp - Timing of surgical intervention for Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip. 

Description:

A randomised controlled study to assess the effect of timing of surgical intervention on the occurrence of Avascular Necrosis (AVN) in children with Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip - Early Treatment versus Intentionally Delayed Treatment.

Population:

A total of 636 children aged 3-13 months with a dislocated hip in the absence of the proximal femoral ossific nucleus will be recruited (318 each arm). They will be stratified at randomisation by failed splintage and age at diagnosis (≤10 months or >10 months).
