Tickets are now available for the University’s Three Minute Thesis 3MT® Grand Final. Come along to see our eight faculty finalists go head-to-head in this hotly contested competition.

You can pick up a free ticket here.

This is the opening event for Festival of Doctoral Research and takes place on:

Thursday 12 May, 17.30, EEE main lecture theatre (32/1015)

3MT® is a global competition which challenges doctoral researchers to deliver a bite-sized presentation about their research, condensing thousands of hours’ work into just three minutes.

With no props of any kind allowed, and using just one static slide each competitor must talk about their research in an informative, engaging and understandable way to a non-expert audience.

Competing in this year’s 3MT® Grand Final are:

  • Elizabeth Herbert – Business Law & Art
  • Mandy Lo – Social Human and Mathematical Sciences
  • Pina Gruden – Engineering and the Environment
  • Adam Vaughan – Humanities
  • Harish Achar Vasant – Physical Sciences and Engineering
  • Charlie Dando – Health Sciences
  • Elena Bollati – Natural & Environmental Sciences
  • Nazira Albargothy – Medicine

These eight finalists, who have come through their Faculty heats, are competing to win a first prize of £1000 to support their research, and also for the chance to represent the University at the 3MT National Finals. Also up for grabs are £500 prizes for Runner-up and People’s Choice.

Whether you are a member of staff, a doctoral researcher, a postgraduate or undergraduate student, the 3MT® Grand Final promises to be an exciting event, bringing together the eight faculties in healthy competition, and showcasing some of our world-class doctoral research.
