The Researchers’ Café is holding its next event tomorrow afternoon as part of the Festival of Doctoral Research.

Tuesday 17 May, 16:00 – 18:30, SUSU Concourse

Researchers’ Café events are always free to attend and are informal – all are welcome to come along and you can listen or join the discussion.

The topics for this Festival edition of Researchers’ Café are:

16:15 - Deltas: sustainable environments or Atlantis? - Frances Dunn

17:00 - The quantum tech revolution - Nathan Shammah

17:30 - Drones, celebrities and privacy - Paulina Sikorska

18:00 - How to take part in Researchers' Café and other options for engaging the public - Tony Curran

Running alongside the Café tomorrow afternoon, there will be an Engagement Showcase.

This drop-in event, also on the SUSU Concourse from 16:00 – 18:00, will offer a taste of different engagement and outreach activities and a chance to see how the University’s research is taken out to the public.

If you are a doctoral researcher, the showcase will also give you the chance to discover more about the groups and networks which can support you to engage beyond your research group, discipline area and the University.

Contributors to the showcase include:

  • Pint of Science
  • Research Roadshow
  • Lifelab/Meet the Scientist
  • Bright Club
  • TEDx
  • Brilliant Club
  • Researchers' Café
  • FPSE (Physics/ORC/ECS) outreach teams
  • Public Engagement with Research unit
  • University Challenged

More information on both events can be found on the Festival homepage.
