(Centre) Southampton alum Jon Godfrey with his Teacher of the Year award

Jon Godfrey, a former Southampton Education School PGCE student, has won the Spire FM Teacher of the Year, part of the South Wiltshire and West Hampshire’s Local Heroes award.

Jon, who studied his PGCE in Geography in 2010, is a Subject Leader of Geography at Trafalgar School at Downton, Wiltshire.

Jon commented:

"I’m only one part of a great team, with fantastic leadership, teaching and support staff, and I certainly couldn’t do my job without everyone. Humbled to have been nominated; shocked to have won, especially amongst some real local heroes who I had the honour to meet last night."

At the Southampton Education School we offer many routes in to teaching, including our University-Led route, our School Direct routes, our Southampton University Partnership Alliance route and our Assessment Only route. We’re passionate about providing the best training to those interested in teaching and it’s great to see one of our former students get regional recognition for their hard work as a teacher.
