New study ‘Reclaiming social care’ funded by the ESRC

Published: 17 April 2018

Southampton Education School has a long history of conducting policy-relevant research. Now, Professor Melanie Nind is joining up with geographers Dr Andrew Power at University of Southampton and Dr Ed Hall at University of Dundee in a new study. ‘Reclaiming social care’ is about what people with learning disabilities and their allies are doing to re-build social care as the social landscape changes away from traditional providers to support being delivered through local social enterprises and voluntary initiatives. This study of history in the making is funded by the Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC).

The Centre for Research in Inclusion (CRI) at the School of Education is seeking to recruit a part-time research fellow to help explore the informal community learning involved in local case study sites. Information about this role and how to apply can be found HERE.
