This short course led by Tig Williams is suitable for beginners and will give the skills and resources to teach computing at KS3 and KS4.
Each day includes lunch and refreshments and course materials.
Python for KS3 Monday 24th October - 9:00am – 16:00
The day will take Python beginners up to a level to deliver Python at KS3. By the end of the day you should be confident with PRINT, INPUT, IF (selection) and managing LISTS. The course will follow a structure and give resources that can be used to deliver directly as a half term (6 lesson) unit in KS3.
Python for KS4 GCSE Tuesday 25th October - 9:00am – 16:00
This day will improve upon the previous day and add the use of LOOPS, ARRAYS, DICTIONARIES, data manipulation and working with SQL databases. Attendees will also start to look at applying the skills learnt to the solution of GCSE level problems.
Solution of GCSE tasks using Python Wednesday 26th October - 9:00am – 16:00
The day will focus on the systems analysis of GCSE problems and the subsequent solution of the problems using Python. You will look at current controlled assessment tasks across a number of exam boards and by the end of the day all candidates should have both the skills to analyse and solve future problems and a worked example of a current relevant unit.
