This two hour course aims to prepare initial teacher trainees for the Numeracy Professional Skills Test. The Professional Skills Test is one of the requirements that all applicants must pass prior to the commencement of initial teacher training. Speed and accuracy of recall of number are important. This session will focus on the mental calculation section of the test. Suitable for initial teacher trainee applicants prior to commencing their training course. Whilst we do not guarantee a pass this session will help attendees revise their calculation skills.
- Revise knowledge of times tables, halving, doubling and apply this to mental arithmetic questions
- Identify the relationship between fractions, percentages and decimals
- Revise knowledge of ratios
- Revise knowledge of speed, time and distance
- Apply conversions – e.g. km to miles
