Join us for a hands-on evening of activities linking practical ideas to the National Curriculum. Course attendees will try out practical science activities to take back to school and use with their children or they can link them to a visit to Winchester Cathedral with your children. You will also have time to network with other teachers and an opportunity to visit the Winchester Christmas market after the session. Suitable for Primary teachers, trainee teachers and teaching assistants.
Evening led by Emma Hart, Learning Officer at Winchester Cathedral and Colin Stevens & Sam Weston from the Mathematics and Science Learning Centre, University of Southampton.
- Using the 5 different types of enquiry to work as scientists and solve the real life problems linking them back to the curriculum topics:
- Everyday materials and their properties
- Communication using sound and light
- Animals including humans
- Evolution and inheritance
- Ideas to take and use in your own classroom with time to practise these before using with the children.
- Explore ideas you can use whilst visiting Winchester Cathedral with your children.
- Teaching resources to take away on a memory stick.
- Refreshments.
Cost: £20 (this includes refreshments and the resources from the evening)
