Jin  Cheng MSc Civil Engineering

Hi, I'm Jin Cheng and I studied MSc Civil Engineering within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.

I think my project will provide me with basic and fundamental knowledge for my future career.

I decided to take the MSc Civil Engineering because I want to learn more knowledge about Civil Engineering. I choose to study at Southampton because the course is high-quality and acceptable.

I have enjoyed learning about the different parts about Civil Engineering including Transport and Management.

The lectures here are helpful with my course. We have a mixture of lectures and practical sessions with computers.

My MSc project is to optimise the shape of concrete beams, so I need to compare the original ones with the new ones. We have finished the project plan and we will start the project in the summer.

I think most people select the project which interests them, so I think the project could provide us some basic and fundamental knowledge for our future career.

I'm hoping to apply to some design or construction companies related to Civil Engineering after I complete the course.
