Mr Matthew Potticary is Postgraduate research student within Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton.

Matthew graduated from The University of Southampton in 2013 with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Shortly after this Matthew started his PhD on a project co-funded by the EPSRC Programme Grant Track21 and Network Rail.

His area of research is numerical modelling of railway ballast using the Distinct Element Method. In particular, he is interested in the effect that particle shape has on ballast bulk properties such as stiffness and strength. His work is supervised by Dr Antonis Zervos.
