Miss Talia Sherrard is Postgraduate research student within Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton.

I completed my degree in Marine & Freshwater Biology at the University of Glasgow in 2010, followed by my Masters in 2011 in Geoenvironmental Engineering at the University of Strathclyde.

Both of these degrees gave me a solid background in marine sciences and an intense introduction into engineering, which ultimately lead to my current research in coastal engineering and ecology.

I have acquired data collection and monitoring research and analytical skills through fieldwork experience in a range of environments (subtidal to terrestrial) and from around the world particularly in the UK, Caribbean and Egypt. I also have experience in microbiology and SEM laboratory work.

Research interests

Artificial coastal defence structures as surrogate habitats for coastal assemblages; increasing the stability and longevity of coastal structures through ecology; reducing anthropogenic disturbance in coastal areas; novel coastal defence material
