Geography quizmaster Geographical Association Worldwise Quiz
The University of Southampton has hosted the regional competition of the Geographical Association Worldwise Quiz with Geography and Environment asking the questions.
The quiz brought 14 and 15 year-old school children from across Hampshire together in an event that saw teams compete in the regional competition, to qualify for the national rounds.
Peter Morgan from the Palaeoenvironmental Laboratory acted as quizmaster asking questions to the schools. The winning team at the event was The Ringwood School and in second place was Priestlands School. They will now be put forward to enter the annual Worldwide Challenge event in May to compete for the overall title of Worldwide Challenge Winners.
Kate Bartlett, who organised the hosting of the quiz at Southampton says; “this is the first time we have hosted the quiz and we were so pleased to have 15 teams from across the county take part. The students’ knowledge of geography was really impressive and I wish both Ringwood and Priestlands the best of luck in the next round.”
