Geography & Environmental Science Seminar

The CCRI (Children's Climate Risk Index) provides the first comprehensive view of the impacts of climate change on children, rather than the population in general. The index considers both the exposure to climate hazards, and the vulnerability of children to those hazards. In this talk, I will introduce the concept and aims of this project, addressing key results of the recently released UNICEF report from 2020. I will then present a focused look at the methodology of calculating the climate hazards, and the results of the current stages of the project, which include projections of the index to 2050. Finally, I will discussing potential future plans for further developing the CCRI and ongoing work created as a by-product of the project.
